Staying Safe On New Year's Eve
Updated: Wednesday, January 2 2013, 10:05 PM EST
From tavern owners to state troopers, safety was a major goal for New Year's Eve.
Asheville bartenders were keeping an eye out for customers who might have been drinking too much. Those people were offered water, coffee, a look at the menu. Anyone refusing would then be "cut-off" and encouraged to go home with a designated driver or in a taxi.
Highway Patrol troopers were also out in force, looking for possible drunk drivers. They also say with all the options, there is no excuse to get behind the wheel if you have been drinking too much.
