Sweepstakes Court Gamble

The owners and operators of video sweepstakes games are promising to continue their court battle to stop the state from shutting them down.
Some operators began pulling the machines this week after the North Carolina Supreme Court upheld a law banning them. The state says the video games are illegal gambling.
The industry has asked the courts to delay enforcement of the law by claiming it will shut down hundreds of bussinesses across the state. Companies say they need a few weeks to see if the U.S. Supreme Court will consider its claim of free speech protections.
