The family of Eryka Phillips is holding a protest today in Asheville to seek justice for her. Phillips was killed when she was run-over by her mother's boyfriend on the Smokey Park Highway.
Swain County residents are mourning the loss of a second young resident this week. Swain County High School student 16-year-old Nate Southards died on Monday morning, a day after a former student there also died.
The community of Lake Junaluska could get annexed by the city of Waynesville. Residents would see a small jump in fees to pay for the annexation.
