A statewide safe driving campaign kicked off Tuesday at Enka High School to raise awareness against texting and driving.
Family members of highway fatality victims and highway patrol troopers discussed the distracted driving risks teen drivers face. Distracted driving is a major safety risk on our roads.
Tracy O'Carroll, mother of an accident victim, "having someone actually come and tell their tragic story and go into detail I think it is real helpful."
To save lives the highway patrol and Subway restaurants kicked off the campaign called "Wait to Text" to urge drivers to focus on the road.
Subway will distribute reminder wrist bands while supplies last.
High school students can participate in an online wait to text pledge.
