Weekly Effort Helps Homeless

The lead pastor of Exodus Church says every Friday, the mission is simple.
"We're trying to love the hell out of Asheville," said Jay DePoy. Each week, the church collects donations including blankets and clothing and distributes them to the homeless at Pritchard Park.
"We're out here because we believe there's hope for our world," Depoy says."How can you worship a homeless man on Sunday and ignore one on Monday. We're sharing our possessions."
Usually, what's offered is taken by the armloads and gone within a half hour. Depoy says it's hard to calculate how many people benefit from their weekly ritual.
But one homeless man we spoke to says the effort means a lot. "It really touched me because I've been kind of down and out," he said.
Exodus church is at Pritchard Park every Friday at 1pm. They welcome others who want to contribute to their effort.
