A Hendersonville man known for dressing up as Santa Claus during the holidays, says he was ripped off by thieves.

Darrell Jones says the thieves stole something very important to him, the ramp and car carrier for his motorized wheelchair.

Darrel Jones says it happened when he was parked in front of the American Legion in downtown Hendersonville Thursday afternoon.

Jones' lost a leg in a work-related accident and says he can only walk short distances.

He says he's not sure how he's going to get around without being able to transport his chair.

Darrell Jones, robbery victim, "if you'd have walked up and said 'Darryl I really need this', I would've have given it to you.  You know I would've replaced it, on my own. Or I would have found somebody, that would get you one, you know, but don't steal mine."

Darrell Jones says the carrier cost about $1,000.

He says right now, he can't afford to replace it.
