"I mean that's the kind of music i like," a man says downtown, as he listens to the song that's being circulated via smartphone.
On Tuesday, mountain resident Steve Martin and Edie Brickell teamed up with the Steep Canyon Rangers to perform "When You Get To Asheville" on the "Late Show" with David Letterman.
"When you get to asheville send me an email," Brickell sings, with Martin playing banjo alongside her.
Thanks to social media, that track in the collection "Love Has Come For You" has gone far beyond city limits.
"It seemed to be going around on Facebook pretty well," says Ashley Conley. "I know a lot of people that re-posted it."
David Roberts says lyrically, it paints Asheville as a promising place.
"You're leaving to discover yourself," Roberts says. "You know hopefully you'll come back, you might like it too much."
"I dig it man, it's Southern Appalachian bluegrass music, it's cool to get that exposure. People need to know about it," says another fan.
