Prescribed Burn Protest

Protesters in Asheville took a stand against a US Forest Service proposal to burn about 16,000 acres in Burke and McDowell counties on Saturday.
The Forest Service says burning the area in and around the Linville Gorge will help restore threatened plant species and reduce the risk of a large wildfire.
Protesters say nature should evolve on its own and it is not anyone's job to decide when that happens.
The Forest Service says they will release a full environmental assessment about the Linville Gorge burn this summer.
They say they will then accept more feedback from the community.
