Steam Train Tour
Updated: Friday, April 19 2013, 07:34 PM EDT
A small crowd turned out to see history in the making Thursday when a steam locomotive rolled into Asheville. Tennessee Valley Railroad has teamed up with Norfolk Southern to bring the 1904 steam locomotive to several different cities in the south.
The last steam engine to operate in a regular service in the southern railway was in 1953. Norfolk Southern started the 21st Century Steam Program, which brings steam trains to town so people can see what a steam engine looks like.
Folks will get the opportunity to ride it this weekend from Asheville to Old Fort. The event is sold out, but you can still see the steam locomotive along the railroad. Click here for the schedule.
