Watch out for black ice and frozen slush this morning! Even roads that have been cleared have re-frozen overnight and will be slick. The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for that black ice and slippery slush.
Valentine`s Day will start quiet and cold. Sunshine will help warm the region quickly into the middle and even upper 40s. A quick-moving system will push clouds into the area by late-day and expect a wintry mix to quickly change to snow after sunset for the mountains. This will also be the case for lower elevations from the TN border into Asheville. Above 3,500 feet as much as 2 to 4" of snow will be possible, ending by afternoon Saturday. Lower elevations can expect accumulations as little as a dusting to as much as 2".
Saturday will bring an end to the snow, but a return to the cold. Strong northwesterly winds will push temperatures down into the middle and upper 30s for highs. Wind chills will hover in the low 20s much of the day.
Sunday will bring more sunshine and milder weather. Highs should reach into the upper 40s in many places. The warmup that starts Sunday will continue into next week. Highs by midweek will likely be in the 60s for much of the region!
