Jim Moore owns Spring Ridge Creamery in Macon County. In addition to operating the store that sells milk, cheese and very popular homemade ice cream, Moore also owns dairy and beef cattle, and farms 50 acres of land.
Moore says the costs of farming-high taxes from increased land value in WNC and expensive equipment put many farmers out of business. But with the help of the Land Trust of Little Tennessee, U.S.D.A. & Clean Water Management Trust Fund, Moore was able to put his farm into conservation, protecting it forever.
