Special Reports

Agriculture and conservation don't often go together, but a Transylvania County farmer is doing both very well. George Lenze has owned Everett Farm since 2005. The farm was under a conservation easement when Lenze bought it.

During his five years as a farmer, he has taken extra measures to keep his property eco-friendly. That includes putting up about 3 miles of fence to keep his cattle out of the creeks and ponds.

Lenze' and his family's efforts have earned them the honor of state finalist for Outstanding Conservation Farm Family of the Year. The winner of the state title will be announced in January.
