WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Wake Forest University soon will be providing more space for its upperclassmen.
The school's board of trustees has approved a project that calls for two new residence halls on the north side of the Winston-Salem campus.
A statement from the school says the residence halls will cover 150,000 square feet and provide suite-style housing for 480 juniors and seniors. Connected by a courtyard, each building will include study lounges, kitchens on every floor and a media room.
Wake Forest raised its requirement for current first-year students to live on campus from two years to three. Dean of residence life and housing Donna McGalliard says more upper-class students living on campus will have a positive impact on campus life
Completion is scheduled for August 2013.
