NBA-SCHEDULE

UNDATED (AP) -- Kobe Bryant's milestone basket couldn't trump Lou Williams' game-winning shot in Philadelphia Monday night.

Bryant moved ahead of Shaquille O'Neal into fifth place on the NBA's all-time scoring list, but Williams provided the tying and go-ahead baskets down the stretch as the 76ers downed the Los Angeles Lakers 95-90.

Williams nailed the go-ahead three-pointer while scoring half of his 28 points in the fourth quarter. Jrue (juh-ROO') Holiday added 13 points and six assists as the Sixers improved to13-3 at home.

Bryant scored just four of his 28 points after halftime after passing O'Neal on the career scoring list before intermission. He missed nine of his 10 fourth-quarter shots as the Lakers fell to 14-11.

Also in the NBA, Chicago ripped New Jersey 108-87 behind Carlos Boozer's 24 points, six rebounds and five assists. The Bulls shot 56 percent and cruised to victory after outscoring the Nets 35-14 in the first period.

Chris Paul scored 11 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead the Los Angeles Clippers past Orlando 107-102. Blake Griffin and Chauncey Billups each added 18 points in the Clippers' sixth victory in seven games overall, and their first in 10 tries against the Magic.

Tony Parker scored 21 points and San Antonio blew a 13-point lead in the third quarter before downing Memphis 89-84. Tim Duncan scored 13 of his 19 points in the second half and finished with 17 rebounds.

Steve Nash scored 24 points and Phoenix used a 24-6 run in the third quarter to take control in a 99-90 victory in Atlanta. Nash shot 9-for-12 and had 11 assists the day before his 38th birthday.

Luis Scola's 25 points helped Houston beat Denver 99-90, the Nuggets' third straight loss. Denver ended the game without forward Danilo Gallinari, who scored 14 points before rolling his left ankle with 9:38 left in the third quarter.

Jeremy Lin scored a career-high 28 points in his first NBA start to lead New York's 99-88 win over Utah. Steve Novak added 19 points as the Knicks overcame the absence of forward Amare Stoudemire, who left the team after his brother was killed in a car accident Monday morning.

John Wall dropped in 31 points and Nick Young added a season-high 29 in Washington's 111-108 overtime win against Toronto. The Wizards blew an 18-point lead in the second half before improving to 5-20.

Sacramento erased an 18-point deficit and beat New Orleans 100-92 behind 28 points and 19 rebounds from DeMarcus Cousins. Tyreke Evans scored 11 of his 20 points in the final period.

NBA-SUSPENSIONS

UNDATED (AP) -- The NBA has suspended Timberwolves forward Kevin Love for two games for stomping on the face of Rockets forward Luis Scola during Sunday's game.

Love said after the game that the stomp was not intentional and he went to Houston's locker room to apologize to Scola.

The NBA also upgraded it to a Flagrant-Two foul on Love.

The suspension means Minnesota will be without its leading scorer and rebounder for a home game against Sacramento on Tuesday night and Wednesday night's outing at Memphis.

Meanwhile, the league has slapped Lakers coach Mike Brown with a one-game suspension and $25,000 fine for making contact with a game official and failing to leave the court in a timely manner following his fourth-quarter ejection from Saturday's loss to Utah. He served the suspension on Monday.

T25 MEN'S BASKETBALL-SCHEDULE

UNDATED (AP) -- Fourth-ranked Missouri had some trouble with Oklahoma Monday night before taking over the Big 12 lead.

Marcus Denmon pumped in 25 points and the Tigers improved to 22-2 overall and 9-2 in the conference by topping the Sooners 71-68. Ricardo Ratliffe's 15 points and 10 rebounds helped Missouri move a half-game ahead of sixth-ranked Baylor and No. 7 Kansas.

In other Top-25 action, Darius Johnson-Odom was the high scorer for No. 18 Marquette, providing 23 in an 89-76 win at DePaul. Jamil Wilson added 18 points and nine rebounds as the Golden Eagles bounced back from Saturday's blowout loss to Notre Dame and win for the eighth time in nine games.

Gorgui Dieng scored 15 points and Chane Behanan had 12 rebounds as No. 24 Louisville whipped Connecticut 80-59.

T25-MEN'S AP POLL

UNDATED (AP) -- Kentucky is on top of The Associated Press' college basketball poll for a third straight week and fifth time this season.

Just as they did a week ago, the Wildcats received 63 first-place votes from the 65-member national media panel.

Syracuse got the other No. 1 votes and remains No. 2.

Ohio State, Missouri, North Carolina and Baylor hold third through sixth from last week. Kansas moves up one spot to seventh, while Florida leapfrogs four places to eighth. Murray State, the lone unbeaten in Division I, slips up one to No. 9 and Duke dropped three places to 10th.

Louisville and Harvard move back into the rankings at 24th and 25th.

NFL-SUPER BOWL

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- From Newark to East Rutherford, the New York Giants were treated to enthusiastic welcome home greetings after beating the New England Patriots 21-17 Sunday at Indianapolis.

The Giants landed this afternoon at Newark Airport, where they were met by a bagpipe band after witnessing a water cannon salute as their plane taxied to a hangar. Thousands more hung by the gates of the team's practice facility to shake hands with the victorious Giants.

Winning coach Tom Coughlin (KAWF'-lihn) appeared at a morning news conference before leaving Indianapolis, saying he has every intention of returning to the Giants next season. The 65-year-old is the oldest coach to win a Super Bowl.

Coughlin has won two Super Bowls with the Giants and says he's looking forward to Tuesday's parade in Lower Manhattan's "Canyon of Heroes."

The NFL champions will then cross the Hudson River to their stadium in the New Jersey Meadowlands for a rally celebrating their title.

NFL-SUPER BOWL-MUSIC

UNDATED (AP) -- The NFL and NBC are playing the blame game following an obscene gesture made by a performer during the Super Bowl halftime show.

The NFL says NBC wasn't quick enough to censor British singer M.I.A. when she flipped the bird at a worldwide television audience.

NBC admits to being slow to pull the trigger but notes that the NFL is responsible for the content of the halftime show on TV's most-watched program of the year.

Both the NFL and NBC are apologizing to fans.

NFL-SUPER BOWL-RATINGS

NEW YORK (AP) -- For the third consecutive year, the Super Bowl has set a record as the most-watched television show in U.S. history.

The Nielsen Co. says an estimated 111.3 million people watched the New York Giants beat the New England Patriots on NBC Sunday night. That bested the 111 million who watched Green Bay's win over Pittsburgh last year.

NFL-COACHES

UNDATED (AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots have new offensive coordinators. ESPN says former Kansas City Chiefs coach Todd Haley will run the Steelers' offense next year, replacing Bruce Arians. Patriots coach Bill Belichick has confirmed that Josh McDaniels will be the team's offensive coordinator next season after being brought in during the playoffs as an offensive assistant under Bill O'Brien, who has left to become Penn State's head coach.

NFL-OCHOCINCO-TRAFFIC CHARGE

CINCINNATI (AP) -- New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco (oh-choh-SINK'-oh) has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge in Cincinnati hours after playing in the Super Bowl. A Hamilton County court bailiff says the former Cincinnati Bengal pleaded guilty today to a charge of failure to display a valid driver's license during a July 21 traffic stop.

NHL-SCHEDULE

UNDATED (AP) -- The Detroit Red Wings have won their last 17 home games and are 20-2-1 at Joe Louis Arena this season. But on the road, they are just 15-15-1 following a 3-1 loss to Phoenix.

Mike Smith turned back 30 shots and blanked the Red Wings until Johan Franzen tallied late in the second period. Martin Hanzal scored twice to help the Coyotes end a seven-game losing streak to the Wings.

Elsewhere on ice, Phil Kessel scored twice and Toronto vaulted into seventh place in the NHL's Eastern Conference by downing Edmonton 6-3. The game was tied 2-2 until Kessel and Tyler Bozak tallied during the first 4:15 of the second period. Clarke MacArthur and Joffrey Lupul (LOO'-pul) also scored as the Maple Leafs improved to 5-0-1 in their last six games, leaving them just six points behind the Northeast Division-leading Boston Bruins.

NHL-RUFF HURT

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) -- Sabres coach Lindy Ruff has three broken ribs after being upended by defenseman Jordan Leopold in practice today. In providing the update, the Sabres announced that Ruff is expected to be back for practice Tuesday to "resume his coaching responsibilities."

Ruff was hurt during a puck-chase drill as Leopold was trying to cut off forward Ville Leino. Ruff was standing in the middle of the ice looking the other way when Leopold lost his footing and went sliding head first and crashed into the back of his coach's skates. Ruff fell backward and landed on his right side with a heavy thud, and was fortunate to not hit his head. Witnesses said they heard Ruff yell out in pain.

T25-WOMEN'S POLL

UNDATED (AP) -- Baylor is a unanimous No. 1 choice in The Associated Press women's college basketball poll for a 10th straight week. The Lady Bears routed Missouri and Kansas State last week while improving to 23-0. They clobbered Oklahoma 81-54 Monday night.

Notre Dame, Connecticut, Stanford and Duke remain two through five.

St. Bonaventure enters the Top 25 for the first time ever, at No. 25.
