The Asheville Tourists trying to build on the momentum of a big weekend in Charleston, where they won 3 of 4 and moved into first place by a game and a half.
The Tourists start an 8 game homestand by bombing the Rome Braves 10-2, with Jeffrey Cunningham knocking in four runs.
Their lead stays a game and a half in the Southern Division because Charleston was a 7-1 winner at Greenville.
The softball playoffs continued Tuesday. In 3A West action,
Enka scores 3 in the first inning and beats Tuscola 4-1. The Jets host Southwest Guilford who won at Roberson 4-2.
Southwest Guilford plays at Enka Friday at 6.
Pisgah breaks a 1-1 tie in the third against Hibriten with 2 runs, knocked in by Haley Worley and Taylor Trull.
The Bears win 6-4 to advance.
In other action ,in 1A Murphy, eliminates Cherokee 5-2. Swain County at Cherryville postponed as was the 4A playoff game, McDowell at North Mecklenburg. Those games will be played Wednesday.
In 1A baseball Polk County falls to Cherryville 5-4.
In 2A, defending state champion East Rutherford beats Hibriten 9-4 to move to the regional championship series.
The Cavaliers play the first game of the best of the three at Ledford, then come home Friday for game 2, if game 3 is necessary it will be played at Ledford.
In 3A, RS Central was knocked out of the playoffs by South Point 1-0.
