Arson Arrest

A Burnsville man is accused of setting fire to the home of his estranged wife and three children.

After the fire, investigators say Adam Randolph returned to the scene and assaulted an officer.

The children and their mother were not at home, but they still lost everything in the fire.

Randolph is now in the Yancey County Jail under a secured $13,000 bond.

The 44-year-old faces nine charges including felonious burning of the home where his three children and his estranged wife lived on Colbert's Creek Road on June 7th.

Other charges include one count of assaulting a law enforcement officer, one count of communicating threats, and four separate drug offenses.

A neighbor called 911 about 1 AM that morning, and officers say Randolph arrived back at the home about 5 PM that afternoon and became violent with officers.

Officers say his estranged wife was out of the area, working for the Forest Service, at the time of the fire.

Randolph does have pending allegations of domestic violence and criminal trespassing.Arson Arrest (07/14/08)
