A local traffic stop in the mountains gets national attention. A Biltmore Forest police officer stopped Ahmad Niamul Ijad on Thursday at 3:30 am for weaving on Hendersonville Road. Now, federal agents are involved in the case.
The arresting officer says Ijad had a fake Illinois driver's license, several phony ID's, a large sum of cash and hundreds of receipts from Walmarts and K-marts around the country. When the officer ran Ijad's name, it came up that he was wanted on federal warrants issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs.
Ijad is being held at the Buncombe County Detention Facility for immigration officials. ICE would not tell us what Ijad is wanted for.
