Dillsboro Depot Closing The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad is the latest victim of a slumping economy and soaring fuel prices. Today, company leaders announced plans to shut down the Dillsboro Depot, effective August 8th. That means all trains will now depart from the Bryson City Depot. Now, local business owners worry they won't have the customers they need to stay afloat, and the railroad's 40 Dillsboro employees are looking for new jobs. All passengers who've already made reservations on the Dillsboro-based train will be given refunds, or their reservations will be honored on the Bryson City-based trains.Dillsboro Depot Closing (07/24/08)
