Highway Patrol is warning drivers to heed the warnings and barriers blocking the rock slide on Interstate 40.
Troopers have already had several reports of people driving straight through the roadblock.
They say it's not only dangerous, it's illegal.
Drivers caught ignoring the barriers will be charged with trespassing and failure to follow traffic directions.
The 500,000 tons of rock that tumbled from the mountainside last Sunday will take at least four months to clean up.
