For the first time in seven years, a roller coaster is running at Ghost Town in the Sky.
Inspectors with the North Carolina Department of Labor gave the Cliffhanger roller coaster their stamp of approval late Tuesday.
The head inspector told News 13 he rode the coaster at least 18 times, and says he has no doubt the ride is safe.
On Wednesday, visitors flooded the park to check it out.
The roller coaster reaches top speeds of 56 miles per hour. A ride on it last two minutes and 18 seconds.
It's by far the park's main attraction, and for that reason, the owners of Ghost Town in the Sky have been counting down the days until it could open.
They say the ride will bring more people and more money to the park at a time when it's desperately needed.
Ghost Town filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy back in March.
Today's opening comes nearly five weeks after the park's May 22nd opening.
Visitors we talked to say it was worth the wait.
The park opens Thursday morning at 10 a.m.
