A financial crisis at a mountain non-profit could leave thousands of people with no place to go for medical care.
The Good Samaritan Clinic serves low-income patients in Haywood County.
The agency's funding comes from a variety of sources, including the United Way, Haywood County government, and private donations.
Recently, though, the economic recession has slowed contributions to a crawl.
Good Samaritan has lost thousands and thousands of dollars in funding.
To cope with the losses, the clinic has cut operating hours and staff as part of a 40-percent reduction in services.
The reduced funding has also left them with no choice but to turn away patients.
A benefit is being planned for this fall to raise money for the clinic.
In the meantime, if you'd like to help or donate, call the Good Samaritan Clinic at (828) 454-5287.
