The Grey Eagle hosted a benefit concert Sunday night for Our Voice, a non-profit assisting victims of sexual violence in Asheville and Buncombe County.
Steven Liebenhaut, an Asheville resident, organized the event. When Liebenhaut turned 50, he decided to use his birthday parties as fundraisers for local organizations. Our Voice is his latest beneficiary, and the group's cause is close to his heart.
Liebenhaut was a victim of sexual assault when he was a teenager. He never told anyone and only shared the painful memories with his family a few years ago. Liebenhaut hopes Sunday's concert will raise money and give other victims the courage to get the help they need.
