Sumler Hits Game Winner Against Wofford, MY 40 Doubleheader, Speir Hires Patten (2-11-13)

Trey Sumler hits a long jumper with :02 left to give Western Carolina a 57-56 win over visiting Wofford Monday night. Sumler finishes with 26 points as the Catamounts win their second straight game.


College basketball doubleheader on MY 40 Wednesday. The action starts at 7 with Gardner-Webb at UNCA. The second half of the hoop doubleheader is North Carolina at second ranked Duke at 9.


Western Carolina football coach Mark Speir has hired David Patten to join his staff. Patten, a WCU alum, spent 12 years in the  NFL as a  wide receiver, and was on three Super Bowl championship teams with the New England Patriots. No word on what his duties will be at Western.
