Disturbing Video of Dog Attack Released
A Spartanburg woman remains in serious condition after vicious dog attack that was captured on a police dashcam.
The video reveals the horrifying nature of the attack the officer described in graphic detail in her police incident report. Officer Ashley Smith says the dogs were "biting and eating" the woman when she pulled up on the scene.
Horrified witnesses were paralyzed to help after the dogs threatened them. One witnessed stayed on the phone with a 911 dispatcher describing what was happening as officers raced to the scene. Neighbors were awakened sometime after 2 a.m. Wednesday by Dreama Rice's screams for help. She suffered bite wounds that covered most of her body.
Officer Smith shot and killed one of the dogs when it turned on her. The other two were taken to the humane society and placed in quarantine.
The dog's owner faces charges for failing to vaccinate the animals for rabies. Police say more charges are possible.
