Oscar's Second Chance

A story of survival is also a lesson in what not to do with your pet. Oscar, a Doberman puppy, lost his leg after ending up being thrown from a truck. It's a reminder that there a rules in place to keep this sort of accident from happening.

The Animal Hospital of North Asheville did the surgery after Oscar's family gave him up because they couldn't pay for his medical care.

Buncombe County requires animals to be cross tethered or in a ventilated cage if they're in a truck bed. Oscar is doing well, but many animals don't make it this far after similar incidents
