Misty Carter Murder Trial Begins

Testimony begins in the case of a Henderson County man accused of killing his pregnant girlfriend. Jermaine Glover is charged with first degree murder in the October 2009 beating death of Misty Carter. Her nude and burned body was found by a passerby on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Jurors Tuesday morning toured several locations that are key in the chain of events that led to Carter's death. The man who discovered the body testified that when he first saw the body lying in a gravel parking area. He thought it was a deer, but then stopped to take a second look.

The witness told the court that before he discovered the body, he almost collided with a truck driven by a man who looked like defendant Jermaine Glover. Gerald Knaus described Glover as a dark-skinned male with a mustache.  Knaus pointed to Glover and said "right there."

A lengthy list of potential witnesses was presented and jurors were told the trial could last a week or more.
