Multiple Arrests after Break-ins

Deputies crack down on burglars and robbers in a Buncombe County community after victims form a crime-fighting group.

Edward Hoglen of Candler and Darius Jefferson of Asheville were arrested for the latest burglaries in the Leicester community.  Hoglen is also accused of stealing a car.

Crime victims in Leicester formed the “Leicester Crime Prevention Group” last month after neighbors reported numerous thefts.

Deputies say they’ve made seven arrests during the past two weeks.
Gerardo Camacho woke up on a Saturday morning three weeks ago to find his pickup, tools, and supplies missing.

Deputies found his truck, but tools and supplies in it are still missing.
He says the group gives him hope that his property will be returned.

The group’s organizers say the arrests send a message for criminals to stay out of Leicester.
