Icy Weather to Start the Day

A potent storm system rolling through the Midwest will bring moisture back to the region. 
Expect mostly rain from Asheville west and southwest, with some sleet & freezing rain for areas farther east and northeast. 
Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for much of the area with the anticipation of light ice accumulations by daybreak. 
Temperatures will fall near freezing in many areas, with highs topping out in the middle & upper 40s around Asheville, but warmer over the Southern Blue Ridge communities. 
Wind gusts pick up tonight as well. 
Higher elevations could see gusts over 60 mph. 
Expect a brief warmup on Wednesday before colder air arrives by Thursday.
