Computer Store Crime Wave
The Apple store crime wave continues in Asheville with two more break-ins over the weekend. A trio of masked and hooded robbers broke into the CityMac in Biltmore Park early Saturday, just minutes after a similar attempted theft at Charlotte Street Computers on Charlotte Street.
The owner of Charlotte Street Computers, Jen Mayer says she knew they would try to hit her store at some point and took action by strengthening her security. She wouldn't elaborate on what that was, but says it was successful at deterring the thieves who left her store after smashing in the door without any merchandise.
CityMac in Biltmore Park and Biltmore Village has now been robbed a total of four times since March. Each time three people wearing hoods, masks and using sledge hammers and totes break in and each time they've been able to get thousands of dollars in merchandise. CityMac's owner wouldn't comment on this latest theft and would not share their security video.
