'Extra' Work In Armored Car Movie
The "Untitled Armored Car Project" features some big Hollywood stars and a cast of local extras grabbing some camera in many scenes.
Danny Buckner of Canton is among the folks with unspoken roles. He has the role of a butler in the film, which stars Owen Wilson and Zach Galifianakis.
In recent weeks, he's had some conversations on set with Wilson.
"'How you like living in North Carolina'," he recalls Wilson asking. "And I told him I've lived here all my life. He was just that kinda guy. "
Buckner has been in several productions, ranging from "My Fellow Americans" to "Last Of The Mohicans." He says he owes his roles to a distinguishing feature, his long flowing hair. "I just like what it's done for me," says Buckner, who nurtures his magnificent mane for such occasions. "I just get out of the shower, I don't ever blow dry it. "
In the case of the "Armored Car" movie, he says his long locks helped land another film gig. "The director liked my look so much that he wanted to use me in some more scenes," says Buckner.
Back in the 80's, he realized his hair was destined for another role, when a boy with cancer approached him one day. "Boy I wish I hair like that. I can't explain what it did it triggered something," says Buckner.
Since then, he's donated a number of times to "Locks Of Love."
That's the claim to fame, he's most proud.
