Upstate Flooding

A slow moving area of heavy rain is causing flooding in Anderson and Greenville counties.

The National Weather Service says 3 to 5 inches of rain fell in just a few hours Thursday morning from downtown Greenville south and in eastern areas of Anderson County.

No major problems were reported, although water was reported on parts of Interstate 85 and the city of Greenville closed Cleveland Park because of flooding.

The weather service issued a flash flood watch for the Upstate and the southern North Carolina mountains through Friday morning, saying the rain was expected to spread out and several more inches could fall.
