I-40 Rough Road Complaints
Some say a stretch of I-40 is wreaking havoc on travelers.
A five mile strip of the roadway at exit 50 is under construction and some commuters say the road is damaging their cars.
Some complain of nicks in the paint on their car and others fear cracks in the windshield from rocks being kicked up.
The DOT says they're keeping it as smooth as they can, while trying to repair the road and some area bridges.
Rick Tipton, NCDOT construction engineer, "we understand that the surface is a little rougher than we'd like, doesn't look quite as good but we're taking care of that and we'll have that smoothed out and have a much better ride once the project's finished."
The project started in March and is scheduled to wrap up in October.
