Search for Macon Co. Escaped Inmate
New details about how a Macon County inmate escaped from the detention center Wednesday night.
Sheriff Robert Holland says Charles Cochran and another inmate were doing routine maintenance in and around the Macon County Detention Center.
Around 9pm, an officer took them to throw out the trash.
That's when Sheriff Holland says Cochran ran into the woods next to the Detention Center and disappeared.
While K9 units and officers haven't been able to find Cochran, they did find an envelope full of pictures, one of his shoes and the clothes he was wearing.
We're told Cochran was being held on a minor charge of Trespassing that had been issued out of the state of Colorado.
He was serving as a Trustee in the Detention Center for the past two weeks and had been a model prisoner.
Sheriff Holland says, While we are making every effort to locate Mr. Cochran we do not consider him to be a danger to our community or a threat to the safety of the public.
Anyone that has information as to his whereabouts should immediately call 911 and report it to law enforcement.
Macon County deputies are searching for a man who escaped from jail late Wednesday night. They are looking for 21 year old Charles Cochran. If you see him call police.
