Thomas Wolfe House Fire Anniversary
Today marks 16 years since one of Asheville's treasures, The Thomas Wolfe House, went up in flames.
Investigators say every room in the historic home was damaged due to fire, smoke, or water on this day in 1998, the night before Bele Chere began.
The case remains unsolved for the Asheville Fire Department but the fire is still on the minds of many of the fire fighters who were there.
Chief Barry Hendren, Asheville Fire Department, "we are using some retired law enforcement officers to really review those cases right now just to see if there's something we may have missed, we definitely appreciate this kinda being back out on the news, maybe someone will remember something."
Firefighters say those flames were unforgettable because they destroyed some artifacts that they'll never get back.
