McDowell Sex Offender Caught
A registered sex offender is caught, after spending six weeks on the run. McDowell County Sheriff's Deputies say 29 year-old Jesse Burse was arrested, after someone tipped off law enforcement.
He was staying in a house on State Street in Marion. Burse faces two counts of failing to update his address, and one count each of failure to appear in court, and failure to pay child support.
Burse's former landlords, Clyde and Sandra Gardner, say they didn't know Burse was a registered sex offender when they rented him a trailer at 6 Eagle Drive in Nebo, last fall. The Gardners say Burse never paid rent, but borrowed money from them to buy cigarettes. When he moved out in mid-June, the Gardners said they called the cops.
Richelle Bailey of the McDowell County Sheriff's Department says landlords should always check out the sex offender registry before renting to someone.
