School Supplies Drive

Hospital employees stack up hundreds of backpacks to help students get a head start at school. Mission Hospital workers donated more than 300 backpacks, some filled with paper and pencils. The donations are sponsored by United Way through the Hands On Asheville-Buncombe Back to School Supply Drive.

"Generally, inside you'll see your typical notebooks, composition books, rulers, general school supplies, and you can donate to fill a backpack, or this year is the first year we've offered payroll deduct for those busy folks who don't have time to shop," says Denise Ebert with Mission Health.
United Way delivers the packs to agencies helping needy families with children. The backpack drive runs through Friday.
