Creation Care Alliance
Churches across the mountains are going green. Tuesday, the Western North Carolina Alliance announced the formation of the Creation Care Alliance.
The group of about 40 churches was previously known as the WNC Green Congregation. As part of the Western North Carolina Alliance, the churches will work on making their property more Eco-friendly. They will also push for sustainable energy, and help fight coal-ash and other pollution.
"We were called to be stewards of God's creation, and as such, it's my faith belief that our job is to protect the world that we've been given," says Reverend Thomas Murphy with Cathedral of All Souls.
While most of the Creation Care Alliance consists of churches in and near Asheville, some of the churches are as far away as Jackson and Macon counties.
