Creating a Plan for Local Wine
Here in Beer City USA, the wine world is hoping to grow the grape industry.
North Carolina's grape industry has experienced exponential growth in the past decade, now worth $1.3 billion. Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards in Henderson County is just one of the 125 wineries in the state. A new report just released, is aiming to develop a strategic plan to help grow the industry by focusing on things like funding, marketing and increasing consumer confidence. This plan is something local growers see as a move in the right direction.
"I think the more wineries you have in an area the more successful you are in bringing people in as far as tourists, which brings in good income for the area," says Helen Pace with Saint Paul Mountain Vineyards.
The number of wineries in the state has more than quadrupled over the last decade, supporting farming and tourism.
