Cat Crisis

The Buncombe County Humane Society says they are overrun with cats.

They say the overflow started last month and they have had nearly 400 homeless cats come through their doors since late June. The Humane Society says it is a big undertaking finding all of the cats places to stay.

"It's a ton of cats," said adoption center director Pam Burgess. "Every season we go through something similar like this."

The Humane Society says they have 200 of the cats in foster care, about 50 in the Humane Society, and about 60 in the Buncombe County Animal Shelter.

They have waived adoption fees for cats through next Saturday. For more information click here.
