Pisgah Inn Contract Bid Deadline Today
The future of a popular destination along the Blue Ridge Parkway is up for grabs. Today is the deadline for submitting proposals for operating The Pisgah Inn. Bruce O'Connell has been operating the scenic Inn and Restaurant for 25 years, but his current concession contract with the National Park Service expires at the end of the year.
He has told News 13 operators of other facilities on in Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, and Yosemite National Parks are likely bidders for the management rights.
O'Connell told fans of Pisgah Inn on its Facebook page he submitted his proposal in person more than a week ago. He said visitors like the home town feel of the way he is running the Inn right now and he wants to keep the operations local.
The Pisgah Inn concession contract includes the 51 Room Lodge, Restaurant, and gift shop The Country Store. It also has employee housing.
The National Park Service posted it plans to issue the new concession contract before the current deal expires on December 31.
