Etowah Teen Charged with Child Abuse
An 18-year-old in Etowah is facing multiple child sex abuse charges.
The Henderson County Sheriff's office charged Micaiah Holden with five counts of taking indecent liberties with the same minor last summer. Detectives say the incidents happened at a daycare run by Holden's mother.
Neighbors in the area say they were not aware of the charges, but say it's important for children to talk to their parents.
"It's very important to believe them because there's a lot of kids out there that are scared to death to come forward," says Teresa Reynolds, a neighbor.
Holden is no longer in custody. His attorney is now working to suppress the statement he gave detectives last summer which lead to his charges. A judge is expected to rule whether to drop that statement by the end of the week.
Holden's family declined to speak with News13 about the charges.
