Filling Backpacks for Kids
40 volunteers from the Kiwanis Club got together to pack bags full of school supplies.
They met at the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club on Haywood Road to load-up about 300 backpacks full of everything students will need.
Col. Ernest Miller, Salvation Army, "this is a big thing for the pride of a child when they go back to school and that's an important thing for even the neediest children to be proud of what is their own."
The Boys and Girls Club will be handing-out backpacks all this week between 2PM and 4PM.
Each one comes with a note inside explaining which organizations donated all the supplies.
