Wicked Weed Expanding
Asheville's Wicked Weed Brewing announced a major expansion Friday.
The local brewery is setting up a production facility in Candler that will invest millions in the local economy and create new jobs.
The company's expansion is said to add more than 80 positions and spend $5 million on facilities and equipment over the next 3 years.
Brewers estimate they'll produce 50,000 barrels of beer each year with the new brewhouse.
Luke Dickinson, head brewer, "it's the best beer city in the country and, you know, just looking around here tonight it's full of people enjoying great beer and we're just excited to be a part of the community and the future of craft beer in Asheville."
Wicked Weed is also opening a second location on Coxe Avenue in September.
It will be called the Funkatorium nd will be a place where patrons can sip on all of Wicked Weed's signature sour beers.
Brewing at the new production facility is expected to begin in the fall of 2015.
