New Charter School Opens
A new charter school opens in Asheville. The Invest Collegiate Imagine School began classes this week. There were about 300 students in kindergarten through sixth grade, as well as ninth and tenth grade classes.
It plans to add classes to become a K-12 in three years. Administrators say the open-floor plan fits the focus of the school. "We are really working to creating 21st century citizens, and part of that is being very collaborative, and creative in spaces together, so that open space allows us to set up different areas for children to work together," says Jennifer Townley, head of the school.
Invest Collegiate Imagine operates on a schedule similar to year-round schools.
