Cow Shot Dead
A cow is shot dead in Madison County after deputies say it wandered into a neighboring garden.
Officials have charged Randy Rice of Marshall with felony animal cruelty, after they say he shot the animal in the neck with a rifle Saturday, and then left its owner a voicemail to come and retrieve the body.
When officials arrived on Rice's property to speak with him, deputies discovered three marijuana plants growing outside the home. Rice, a convicted felon, also had nine weapons inside the house according the Sheriff Buddy Harwood.
Rice is facing three felony counts including possession of a firearm by a felon and manufacturing Schedule VI marijuana.
Kenny Roberts owned the cow and he said had raised her since she was a calf. Her name was Sweet Tea.
