Felony Assault Arrest After Shooting
Police arrest a man for firing shots at his mother's boyfriend. Damien Bell, 21, is charged with felony assault causing serious injury and firing a gun in city limits.
Residents on 5th Avenue, just a few blocks from downtown Hendersonville, reported hearing gunfire last night around 10:30pm.
Police responded to 600 block, part of the commercial and residential section of the west side of the city, but couldn't pin down exactly where the shots were fired.
Callers from Pardee Hospital told them that a victim had showed up who said he was shot at a nearby apartment building.
Reggie Jones told officers he's the boyfriend of Damien Bell's mother. The two had gotten into a heated argument.
Capt. Bruce Simonds, Hendersonville Police Department, "the son of the girlfriend and the boyfriend got into an argument went outside, the younger male produced a smaller .32-caliber Smith and Wesson, and shot several times striking the male in the left bicep."
Police say Jones left the hospital without receiving treatment. They found Damien Bell at the apartment and they say he turned over his weapon to officers.
Bell is charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, and discharging a firearm in the city limits.
He has a court appearance Monday afternoon.
