Spindale Son Stabs Father
Spindale Police arrested Curtis "CJ" Lowe Jr. Wednesday night after responding to a report of an assault at a home on Poplar Street. That's where officers found CJ's father, Curtis Sr., suffering from knife wounds.
Jerold Ferguson, who lives at the home, says Curtis Sr. was staying with him as Ferguson recovered from a recent surgery. He says he had seen the father and son fight before, but never so violently. Ferguson says he watched Curtis Sr. ask his son to wash some dishes multiple times. "He didn't come, so he asked him again and he didn't come. Third time he asked him, he came out the door and started beating on his daddy," says Ferguson.
The two bruised Ferguson's arms as he tried to split up the fight, but tensions escalated. When CJ begged his father to stop, Ferguson says the 22-year-old got up and grabbed a knife. "I think the first place he cut him was right, straight down the face," says Ferguson. "But, he has stab marks, I don't know how many."
Ferguson called 911 and Curtis Sr. was airlifted to Spartanburg Regional Hospital where he remains in serious condition. Friends of his tell News 13 his parents are by his side. CJ was booked in the Rutherford County Jail on a $105,000 bond. He's facing charges for assault and battery and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill.
Ferguson had quite a mess to clean up after the ordeal. "There was blood on almost every wall in here," he said. Now, he's returning the favor to his friend; taking care of Curtis Sr.'s dog as they wait on news from the hospital.
