Bad weather across the area is causing big trouble on the roads. Amboy Road in Asheville is flooded and barricades are up at the intersection of Riverside Drive and Craven Street because water is a couple of feet deep.
A landslide in McDowell County has portions of I-40 closed as well. It happened near the top of Old Fort Mountain around midnight.

Here are the road closures and updates we have at this time:
Holder Bridge Road, Canton, in Haywood County closed due to landslide.
I-40 West bound, all 3 lanes on the Old Fort Mountain Grade closed due to landslide.
Old US-70 between Old Fort and the McDowell-Buncombe County line closed due to landslide.
Crooked Creek Road off NC-9 in Buncombe County closed due to landslide.
Two right lanes are closed near Old Fort and mm 68 at the McDowell and Buncombe county lines. The lanes are not expected to reopen until later in the afternoon Monday, May 6, 2013.
Roads closed due to high water in Asheville: Amboy Road, Lyman Street, Swannanoa River Road in Biltmore.
Roads closed due to high water in Buncombe County: Glen Bridge Rd SE, Pinner Road, Ledbetter Road, Pennsylvania Road off Avery's Creek.
Roads closed due to high water in Henderson County: Howard Gap at F&R Used Cars, Nix Road off Howard Gap.
Roads closed due to high water in Haywood County: Hyder Mountain Road in Clyde, Thickety Road in Clyde, Old Crabtree Road in Lake Junaluska.
