Child Sex Abuse Case
Macon County deputies charge a former basketball coach with eleven felony child sex abuse and pornography charges.
Christopher Burk is accused of six charges for having sex with females less than ten years old, and five counts of taking pictures and videos of them. Sherriff Robert Holland is withholding the number of the victims and other information to protect the alleged victims. When deputies escorted Burk from the courthouse in chains Thursday, News 13 asked him if the charges were true, and he had no response.
Detectives seized four computers Burk owns. Sheriff Holland says they were shocked at what they saw in just part of the first computer they examined. That evidence resulted in two groups of warrants, one related to intercourse with females under ten years old. A second group concerns pictures and videos of sex acts. Deputies seized his truck because it is connected with those photos.
The sheriff says he will seek additional indictments May 13th when the court convenes a special grand jury.
According to Sheriff Holland, Burk was a coach of a children's’ community league basketball and was not an employee of the county schools. He’s urging anyone with information, or suspected victims, to contact the sheriff’s office.
