Madison High School Drug Bust
A drug bust at Madison High School this morning sends the campus into lockdown.
At least five students are arrested so far, the result of a seven month undercover drug investigation, and more arrests are expected.
Authorities tell us the mother of one of the students caught in this drug bust was also arrested after deputies spotted her removing marijuana from the boy's car on school grounds
We have video of the drugs that were seized, it includes a bag of marijuana, several plastic baggies used to package drugs and a bottle of tequila...all taken from a student's car at school.
We are also told several cars, belonging to students have been seized and some stolen property.
Now the school was placed on lockdown as deputies brought in a drug K-9 to sweep hallways and lockers. The lockdown is now over.
Sheriff Buddy Harwood spoke about having to arrest high school students as part of a drug roundup, "what's very concerning is whenever you arrest a student a the school and that parent goes to that students car a gets a bag of marijuana and attempts to conceal that marijuana. That's concerning."
Madison deputies working with the Buncombe Sheriff's Office to roundup a total of 35 suspects indicted in this undercover drug operation.
